I've been looking at the variety of uBlox receivers for a project at
work, where I want multiple bands and a 1 pps to compare against a local
oscillator.
Are there other brands of these that I should be looking at? I'm not to
the point of writing down specs, more figuring out "what's available".
The receiver will be moving (slowly) so a "timing" receiver might not be
the best, although we're planning on doing more than one experiment.
Ultimately, it's to kind of duplicate what we're doing with SunRISE -
receive GNSS and HF signals, time tag them, and then post process.
But cheaper and terrestrial - no million dollar satellites for this one :)
On a similar note we've also got some student project folks using
SDRplay receivers (no GPS) - a whole bunch of high schools
(internationally) are participating in a overall radio astronomy
outreach. BUT, if someone has used inexpensive SDRs with a GNSS module,
I'd be interested to hear about it.
I haven’t (yet) used them, but Navsparq offers some interesting receivers as modules or breakout boards at very reasonable prices.

Have you considered the Mosaic-T/X5?
Very capable and you can feed it a 10 MHz from a reference.
Cheers,

Hi
I went back to get a spare Mosaic-T recently and ran into a bit of an
issue. They now are getting serious about “we don’t sell to individuals”.
Early on, this didn’t seem to be a big deal. On the last order it very much
was.

Well, this would be selling to JPL, about 5500 of us here, so not
exactly an individual.
:)
Hi
I’ve seen these programs work various ways.
In one model the “central office” buys things and ships them out. In the other
model each local “team” is responsible for sourcing their parts.
Things like software might done with one model (free from central office with
a limited license ) and hardware might done another way.
Lots of variables.
