Passing this along for SH Johnston of Farmington.
10/26/2019, Farmington - GOLDEN EAGLE, Farmington Meadows. Saturday, 10/26, 8:15am. I was driving west on Meadow Road through the Farmington Meadows when I noticed a dark eagle-sized raptor soaring and wheeling very actively at about tree-top level at the edge of the agricultural field on the north side of Meadow Road, at the west end of the meadow toward Tunxis Mead. Bald Eagles are seen in the area regularly, and in the absence of white head and tail, my first ID was immature Bald Eagle. Pulled over, got bins on, watched for at last three minutes, with excellent morning light coming from behind me. On first look through the bins, I immediately revised my impression to immature Golden Eagle. I observed extensive white at base of tail, slight dihedral, smaller head and beak than Bald Eagle, white panels in wings at base of primaries creating the impression of dark wingtips, contouring flight, relatively acrobatic flight for an eagle (much more so than Bald Eagle), and none of the "plank-like" look to the wings that a Bald Eagle has. Wingbeats equally deep above and below the median. I have previously seen Golden Eagles in Farmington in early November 2008 (fly-over in Unionville) and mid-October 2010 (hunting in central meadow, lovely long observation).

Apologies for the late post - I was on the road all day Sunday without opportunity to post. I did not have a chance to get back to the area during daylight, though I expect the bird was only passing through and might not be in the area anymore.
On the other side of the road at the same time, three Sharp-shinned Hawks were riling up a flock of crows and seeming to get a lot of fun out of it. It was fun to bookend the day with eagles - a Golden in Farmington, and a Bald Eagle in Guilford at sunset.
