How do you account for the fact that well over a thousand DeFever designed
tuna boats have been fishing the Pacific fleet for years - did they all die a
lonely death offshore?

Not ALL Defevers, silly. Just the ones with the flared bows, like the one
mentioned, a 53 MY, I think.
Notice all the shrimpers on the US East Coast: No flared bows. You want the
buoyancy of the boat to increase proportionally as the bow buries. A bow
flare ups the ratio and makes you pound.
