From Frank Mantlik & Nick Bonomo

12/10  - We took a 9.5 hour survey of LI Sound by boat from Milford west to Greenwich (and continued on to Executions Rocks off Sands Point, NY) and back. It was pretty slow, bird wise, in CT.  No Gannets nor alcids were seen, and there were very few expected wintering ducks.  Highlights were: 2 BLACK SCOTERS flying east off of Charles Is., Milford, 1 BONAPARTE'S GULL, numerous COMMON and RED-THROATED LOONS, a smattering of scoters and Long-tailed Ducks.  Numbers aren't tallied yet, but near Execution Rocks there were flocks of Surf scoters (300?), White-winged Scoters (50?), and Long-tailed Ducks (200?).
