Greetings Colleagues,
The HBCU Library Alliance is thrilled to announce a fantastic professional development opportunity for students passionate about librarianship. We encourage you to recommend students for this unique chance to grow their skills and network with peers.
The HBCU Library Alliance is providing student library ambassadors the opportunity to exchange ideas and collaborate on addressing the challenges and opportunities facing HBCU libraries in the evolving landscape of higher education.
Students from member libraries in good standing can apply for funding to attend the Sunday, October 27 Preconference and the Monday morning, October 28, Opening Session of the HBCU Library Alliance 10th Membership Meeting. Southern University and A&M College (LA) is the host site for this year's Membership Meeting. The theme, 'The HBCU Library Alliance: Empowering our Members to Face the Future of Democracy and Education,' is designed to inspire engaging experiences, meaningful dialogue, and professional networking.
Preconference sessions include:
The Courage to Lead and Change Management
Trends in Library Technology
The Journey of an HBCU Archivist
Mental Wellness and Emotional Intelligence
Applications are due by Friday, August 30, 2024, and selections will be made by Friday, September 13, 2024. Students must submit a brief report and complete a survey about their meeting experience if selected.
This is a remarkable opportunity for students to gain invaluable insights and connect with professionals in the field. Please share this information with your students and encourage those interested in librarianship to apply. The application is available via an online form: Student Library Ambassador Membership Meeting Application.https://forms.office.com/r/y79U9MHp6m
Please reach out to ShaneƩ Y. Willis at swillis@hbculibraries.orgmailto:swillis@hbculibraries.org if you have questions or need additional information.
Your support is appreciated as we empower the next generation of library professionals.
Respectfully,
Sandra
