Liveaboard Address

My wife and I are ready to sell the house and move aboard a trawler full time.
And she asks "what will we use for an address?; where will we have our
mail-order prescriptions sent??" Never occurred to me; I just want to get on
the boat and go. How do most of you live aboards handle that? We plan to be
cruising up and down the ICW and into the Great lakes and, hopefully,
constantly on the move? I appreciate all of the info and advice offered on
this forum. It certainly makes things easier for a newbie like me. Thanks!

<snip> There are a number of options, we still have our house ;-( , so that is our physical address for voting, drivers license, insurance et al. Our daughter is living in our house for a time, so she takes care of getting our bills to us via email with who where and how much, I do the majority of the banking and bill paying on line but not all offer electronic billing, those we rely on emails from home. The bills still are all paid electronically. I love it, I can set up the recurring payments to go automatically, but you probably already know all that. Many cruisers we meet us St. Brendan's in FL, and have established FL residency for taxes & voting. Everyone's situation is a bit different, so there's no cut & dried best way.

I make sure my credit card provider knows that I order things and have
them shipped all over, some vendors won't work with you on that, just do
business elsewhere. That's probably the most frustrating part - where to
intercept if you're constantly on the move. So pick a spot you like
where they're cruiser friendly, and have stuff shipped there ahead of
your arrival. We do that at Brunswick Landing, they just hold packages
until we arrive. If it's something IMPORTANT, ride herd on it, don't
rely on people to do what they say they will. Order it, get a tracking
number, alert the shipping address that it's coming, and follow up when
it's delivered. Document names and times. Comes in handy when someone
drops the ball. Had multiple bad experiences with shipping to marinas
not accustomed to the drill. It's easy to lose a couple of days because
some pimple-faced kid tells the UPS guy: "dude, there's nobody here by
that name, I think, like the thing got sent to the wrong place...."

Have fun! Go now, don't look back. <G>

We currently own a house rented out in Florida so have a dirt link.  We use
St Brendan's Is and we are full timers. They are a great mail handling
forwarding service with a non PO address and many folks have successful used
it to establish Florida residency, but that is becoming more difficult with
recent Dept Homeland Security requirements for State Driver licensing; still
possible sort'a.
There are hoops to jump thru if you are a full time live aboard with out a
land base as most insurance agencies will not insure you except IMS helmsman
and a few others at less coverage and greater relative expense. Meds get
delivered easily to St Brendan's as well as credit s card billing as it does
NOT read like a PO box which many credit card, internet shipping folks won't
send to.  The problem with meds are the scripts.  Will your Doc write them
absentee??? and for how long without touching and feeling you?  You may need
to establish with several Docs along your primary cruising routes to
accommodate illness and prescription renewals.  Luckily many Doc sin florida
are use the snow birders doing this. Some folks sell out and go, others
(yours truly) keep the/a house and rent it out,  partly because of the bad
market for selling but better for renting and partly to keep a dirt address
for insurance, place of record, etc.  A child/sibling address will do the
same if a reliable relation.  Some complications but forth it. Just get the
Doc situation in had before leaving.

still living/boating (better) thru chemistry
