from John Oshlick and Glenn Williams, briefly with Bob and Kathy Maleski:
9/11 - Groton, Bluff Point State Park -- CONNECTICUT WARBLER, OPORORNIS SP., SWAINSON'S THRUSH, 20 RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES, PURPLE FINCH, YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT (seen after morning flight in the shrubby area near the hot corner with the old foundation. 1000+ warblers of 14 species ~85% American Redstarts
John and I saw both Oporornis in flight and think the second was a Connecticut also. Third day in a row of good movement there, but few birds landed and gave good looks - when looks were to be had they were almost always redstarts. Many non-redstarts unIDed in flight. Unusually, four Ovenbirds were definitely doing morning flight. Fun to see a flyover flock of five gnatcatchers. Saw my first Ruby-crowned Kinglet of the season. As is often the case when things get fast and furious there, many birds missed and many species totals undercounted.
