Tacoma friends,
I'm sending this because I thought of your great art cooperatives. Please see the application to show your wears/wares at the event below. I've attended as a consumer in years past. It's a well attended, hip event. The artists made lots of visible sales. I share in case the Speakeasy Arts Cooperative or 253 Collective want to rally to show our Tacoma talent.

I'm not affiliated with the event. Heck I'm not even in the state right now.

Aloha!

Jamie Chase

Hello!  It seems like just yesterday that we were promoting our second Summer Show, and now we are here to announce that applications are live on our website for our sixth Winter Show!  We are so excited to see our old favorites, some new faces, and now even FOOD Vendors!!!!  This will be exciting for all of us!  Read on to hear more...
For the New and Old
Applying to UCU

We first want to thank those of you that took the time to answer our survey after the past summer show.  We have heard what you have to say, and will show you at our winter show!

If you are an artist new to our application process we HIGHLY suggest you read over our FAQ.  It will help answer all  your questions about how to get your application together, things to consider, and tips for how to make your application the best it can be.

If you have applied in the past we still highly suggest reading over the FAQ, as this document is changed and added to as new questions come up.

Below are a few helpful hints to consider as well!
Tip #1: Photos For the Win

Your photos are the most important part of your application.

Because of the volume of applicants from the ever-growing handmade community, it's a good idea to review your photos!  This is the MOST IMPORTANT part of the application and can make it or break it.

Things to think about:

We average 300+ applicants for each show and about 10+ hours for jurying... looking at links would be too cumbersome. We make our decisions based entirely upon your currently submitted photos and the information you provide in your application.  That's why we tell you that your photos are really, really, really important. Really.

We hope to see:

  • Sharp, clear, bright photos
  • A few photos of single items and a few shots of several items together
  • Your fine craftsmanship
  • Your unique point of view and work that expresses it

Bonus tiplette:
Show your photos to your friends and lovers and seek honest feedback. If you want even more advice and hands-on learning action, you might try Small Object Digital Photography Workshops with Marlo Miyashiro.
Tip #2: Get Yourself the 411

If the application asks for something you don't understand, seek the information and make it work!

"I know the application says that you need ________, but I don't know what that is so I'm not gonna do it. That's cool, right?"

Not really. It's completely understandable if you don't know how to use PayPal, or how to change the name of your photo files, etc. The important thing is to get informed and follow through. If you submit your application and disregard the requirements, it's gonna bounce.

Bonus tiplette:
For the techy-challenged or the computer-unsure, here's a problem solving bff.
Tip #3: FAQ it, Einstein!

Even though you read all this tasty info and are already very smart indeed, there is more must-have knowledge on our application FAQ.

Plus, the app changes a little every year.

Woo hoo! The FAQ!!
Tip #4: Take a Deep Breath

And don't forget to have some fun.

Ready?  You can fill out the application here.

We're rooting for ya!
We can't wait to see how awesome you are!

Much love,
Moxie, Kristen and Lindsey,
Your UCU Nerd Girls
