Bill,
Use a foreign word or phrase that is recognized in English. I.e "Mal de Mer"
or "De gustibus non est disputandum." That way no one will know if you are a
French physician or a university Don on vacation. You can always change the
name when you get home. ;-)

My ex-wife hated the idea of my owning a boat and refused to have anything
to do with it. Indeed, she didn't like the idea of my enjoying it.
Nevertheless, since she gave me good reason to spend a lot of time on board,
I named it with her in mind. The Sailing Vessel "Xanthippe." She was a
business school grad and never caught on.

"Xanthippe, who, far from being a shrew, is a loyal, loving, practical and
decidedly put-upon wife and unsung breadwinner (whence her economic
expertise), traduced to posterity by a Plato jealous of her closeness to her
well-meaning old fraud of a husband"
Hmmmm.

Xanthippe: a suitable name for an ex-wife perhaps. But how did the
boat feel about it? She, made of wood, glass or steel is supposed to
be your loving mistress! Gg
I'd argue the point with you, but unfortunately I agree with you. I named
the boat in a fit of pique with incomplete knowledge. As I learned more
about the lady and my boat, I felt that the name still applied. "Xanthippe"
was loyal, practical, and one helluva great boat. A Cape Ann Sailing dory.
