TWL: ESPAR Exhaust Venting

Has anyone vented their Espar diesel furnace exhaust to the
outside of their boat-house?  Regular boat exhaust hose won't work
I'm told ---needs water flowing through it for cooling.

The furnace outlet at the boat hull is 1.5 inch pipe thread. We are
looking for a system that is relatively easy to connect and
disconnect.

Didn't know about the water flowing. However one boater vented his
Espar exhaust straight out pointed at the wooden dock he was tied to.
Set the dock on fire.....
Have seen a number of boaters screwing a steel elbow and a piece of
steel pipe into the exhaust and pointing it downward to within a few
inches of the lake. Cuts noise and definitely is less smelly. Has
anyone ever considered venting Espars straight up like a chimney
above the height of theirs and neighbouring boats? I do that with my
wood and coal Force10.

Sandy, there's no water in the ESPAR exhaust hose, unless you count

condensation :-). You do have to worry about back pressure, however, so use
a larger hose than that in the boat and keep the run short. How about using
the 3inch flexible aluminum hose sold in hardware stores for home heating?
Adapters (several needed in series) are readily available to attach to 1 1/2
inch NPT. A couple of bell adapters plus a 1 1/2 inch nipple and a hose
clamp would work.
