Count me as another of the many who'll miss the Trawlers and Trawlering
List, Georgs.

I can't remember when I joined, but I'm quite sure it was before I sold
Bluewater Books & Charts in 2000.  That means T&T has carried me through a
bunch of trawler-type boats--a GB32, GB42, Nordic Tug 32, Nordhavn 47, and
an American Tug 34.

It was a different world back when T&T got started, and this group was a
wonderful resource for information for all of us who had trawlers.  It has
a real sense of community.

Over the years, more and more trawler-focused groups came into being.  Two
that I have hands-on personal experience moderating are the Nordhavn Owners
Group and the American Tug Owners Group, both hosted by Groups.io and both
restricted to owners of those brands.  The narrower focus has advantages
and disadvantages, but both groups are growing every year and thriving, and
the Group.io functionality makes it easy to include pictures, wiring
diagrams, and other documents.  Anyone thinking of starting a replacement
for T&T would do well to look at the Groups.io platform. (No connection
with Groups.io other than being a very happy longtime user.)

Thanks to you, Georgs, and all the other T&T members who've made this a
great group for so many years!

Milt Baker, boatless in Fort Lauderdale

Now I'm an octogenarian, and I sold my last boat a few months ago, but a
big Bluewater Thank You to you and all the others here on T&T for making
the process of owning and cruising trawler yachts better and more pleasant
over the years

Subject: T&T: All good things come to an end

Ahoy, all!
All good things must come to an end, says the proverb, and so must

T&T List.

When we launched 24 years ago—way back in 1997!—it was the only

online resources for folks interested in cruising, passagemaking and living
aboard under power. We like to think that all forums that followed were
mere copycats.

At one point, the main T&T list had more than 2,000 subscribers,

with sister lists having as many as 1,000 each. Today, the main T&T List
still has 1,447 subscribers, with Trawlers Buy-Sell-Trade at 1,542 and
Great Loop at 916.

But, for a whole bunch of reasons, traffic started slowing in recent

times, and now has completely died without a single post in a long time.

Thus, I’ll be shutting down the three remaining lists at month’s end.
My huge thanks to Bob McLeran who has served as List Administrator

since almost the beginning, 2004 to be exact. The countless hours he
has volunteered are just that, countless—and way beyond the call of duty.
Much thanks also to Alex, Kevin, Steven and others who volunteered on the
Admin Help Team.

My great thanks also to Listees who answered the periodic call

for financial contributions to help cover operating costs.

I will miss all of you.
Stay safe!

Dear Georges & Bob,
Thanks for all you did. I joined the list while still dreaming of buying
my Krogen. It led to 20 years & 25,000 miles of cruising adventure. Still
enjoying my lobster boat in Maine.
All the best,
Craig
