(GIG HARBOR) The 26th Annual Gig Harbor Summer Art Festival,
scheduled for July 17 and 18, will feature hand-crafted work by 148
artists from throughout the Northwest. The event, which is presented
by Peninsula Art League (PAL), will take place on Judson Street in
the heart of historic downtown Gig Harbor.
According to Christy Camerer, chair of this year’s event, more than
200 applicants juried for the show. “We are looking at a great
year,” Camerer said. “We will have watercolor artists, wood
carvers, jewelers and many others. We also have a full stage line-up
of music with the Malcolm Clark Band hosting all weekend and our big
headliner, the Kim Archer Band on Sunday.” There will also be
strolling fiddlers, a barbershop quartet and a strolling bagpiper.
Children’s activities include face painting, cloth toy-stuffing,
beading and a drum circle.
Free shuttle service will be provided from the Pierce Transit Park
and Ride lot and the Medical Center parking lot on Kimball Drive to
the festival site and beyond.
In conjunction with the two-day event, PAL will present an exhibition
of work by its members in the Key Bank branch near the festival site.
On Saturday, the Gig Harbor Historic Waterfront Association will hold
its annual ‘Chalk the Walk’ sidewalk art event all along the
waterfront.
The Gig Harbor Art Festival is supported by a generous sponsorship
from Key Bank.
All events are free.
