Lo all,
Here's my two cents on the yandina spam problem.
What I love about email is filters. I now have outlook set up so that
anything that comes from yandina.com is automatically deleted and I will
never see it. Given their behavior it's highly unlikely that I would
ever purchase anything from them even if I like the product.
So .... Courtesy of filtering in outlook and a third party ad filtering
proxy for my web browser I will never see anything from yandina again
.....ya just gotta luv it ;-)
They do get the darwin award for their business practises ......VBG
Oh .... And I hope they're lurking!
Cheers,

Could we just drop the subject. It's obvious many members have no idea what
Andina has or has not contributed. Let's stick to the "big tent" concept
with room for everyone who sticks to the rules. The moderators are humans
too (I think {;^0 ) and they or their robot answers can come across as being
rude. The have good days and bad days. They are volunteers and the list is
free to the membership.
So we all need to cut each other a lot of slack and use the delete key or a
filter if you find a contributor worthless or rude. But don't perpetuate the
problem by pounding individual contributors in public. I'm thinking of
recent public correspondence to Ms. Wald in particular.
We have contributors who can't spell and use the wrong words, BUT, you look
at there contributions over the long haul and you find that it is the
content that counts. If somebody has a screwy or groundless opinion - suck
it up. In this context this list is free. It is open to the opinions of
individual mariners and those who hope to become mariners - thus, we are
bound to have iconoclasts, sensitive people, and people with thick hides.
One letter noted that we lost two knowledgeable contributors owing to the
rudeness of list members - not moderators. We cannot afford that.

Well said .....works for me.

Here, here Ron; I couldn't agree with you more.
Somehow this group has begun taking itself too seriously and in the process
driving away the expertise that makes this forum so valuable. We are not all
experts, if so we would not spend any time on this forum. Further, the
advice I have seen from well meaning participants over several years of
lurking is, in many cases, flawed. The wisdom of a professional who puts
beans on his/her table each day through their respective knowledge and
experience comes through on occasions to put us back on the proper track.
It is still left to the individual to determine if this advice is real, or
just sales fluff.
I miss Peggy Peale (the Princess of Poop), I still have questions with no
answers about things poop-wise that affect us all. We drove her away. I
appreciate the pros who so love this boating world that they are willing to
give away their time and knowledge in an effort to make us all better
boaters (and sure, maybe make a buck or two for themselves in the process;
welcome to the American way.).
Pay for this site? NO, not ever. Make a donation to keep it the way it
WAS, show me the way!

Peggy Hall (who used to be with Peal Products) is still actively
contributing the newsgroup, rec.boats, (which otherwise is an unruly forum
that was ruined by a few people that would have been long kicked out this
group). You can post questions for her there and search for her past posts
by using groups.google.com
I agree she is the very model of good newsgroup citizenship who spends much
time and effort disseminating her "hard earned" knowledge of things
excremental. //
