For the first time since April 1994 more than 2000 birds were tallied in a
single day at the Niagara Peninsula Hawkwatch at Beamer Conservation Are
in Grimsby, ON. Paul and Tina Summerskill, assisted by a large group of
experienced hawkwatchers in the tower and on the ground, counted 2036
birds of 10 species. In addition to the terrific numbers, highlights of
the day were a dark-morph Red-tailed Hawk and an adult Bald Eagle which
did several circles over the park to the delight of a large Easter Sunday
audience of birders and members of the public out to enjoy the fine
weather.
