A short swim anyone? A friend sent me this , Peanut and I are signed up!! They have to have 50 entries by July 15th in order to reserve the park. The entries have to be for the Duathalon and not just the 2 mile walk.  I think we will do the swim and then see how far we get on the 5K. My friends did this last year and had a blast!  And...not that physically fit... Like me!

Maybe a spot we can look at for future water training also..?

Hope to see some more Newfies!  Tammy

Hi Everyone,

I know most of you have heard Mike and I talk about how much fun we've had at the BART duathalon or you've participated in it yourself. Mike and I are really excited about doing it this summer, but unfortunately they don't have many people signing up so they are going to cancel if they don't get 50 participants by JULY 15th!

Please sign up!!! It's for a great cause. BART stands for Basic Animal Rescue Training. The organization trains firefighters and other first responders on how to approach and save pets and livestock during fires and other disasters.

The race is a riot! It's hilarious. A bunch of excited dogs in life preservers and people that may or may not be very physically fit "swimming" for 200 meters and then going on a nice 5K (3 mile) walk/jog. If the swim sounds intimidating, you can actually walk because it's about waist to chest high water. You keep your dog on a leash and he/she swims/floats along side you. If you don't want to swim at all, you and your dog can just do the 5K.
Long Lake regional park is a really pleasant park and the beach is really nice.
There are cash prizes for the top competitors in each dog weight category (small, medium, large).

So sign up NOW!! Even if you can't make it, consider it a donation to a great organization.

Please pass this email along to anyone else you know that may be interested!

It is easy to sign up at the link below:

For more information or to sign up, go to the BART website. You can click on Duathalon 2016 on the top right.

Can't wait to see you all there!
