Dave:
I struggled with the same problem and decided on the newer aluminum frames
with a thin skin of fiberglass on top. These types of tops are very light.
The workers easily walk on these but you have to be careful. One thing I
would caution is to really plan out the placement of any antennas you want
to put on top. They can easily weld in plates for these items before they
install the fiberglass but it gets more complicated afterwards. Also plan
for a path for the wires.
I also eliminated the venturi windshields for a cleaner look.
I had mind done by C and C Welding out of Cape May and they did a great
job. The EZ2CY is great stuff although the price takes your breath away.

My biggest concern what effect this extra weight will have. There are two
options, the first is a heavier and stronger top that can be walked on,
which requires more structure, verses the option of a lighter top and
structure that can't be walked on.
