[Ontbirds] Harris's Sparrow continues - Milton 8am Sun Mar 26

Hello Ontbirders,

I arrived at the pathway on Gowling Terrace at 7:30am today and didn't immediately see any birds at the seed. I waited for about 15 minutes before moving to the fenceline at Kearns and the pond, watching the other pile of seed in the NW corner of the park area (completely fenced off for construction). After another 30 minutes of waiting and watching I decided for one last try back at the pathway on Gowling. I stayed in the car as the juncos and House Sparrows were quite skittish. After about 5 minutes the star of the show, the adult Harris's Sparrow (in winter plumage) showed itself for a bit - the birds are very skittish so if you can manage viewing from the car it might be best.

Also dropped in at JC Safdington park in Mississauga but the strong SE wind and huge waves made viewing next to impossible, no luck on the Western Grebe or any Grebe species there.

Regards & good birding,
Frank Pinilla
Richmond Hill, ON

DIRECTIONS:

Gowling Terrace is found off James Snow Parkway just north of Derry Rd. Enter west off James Snow at Waldie Ave and turn left on Kearns Drive, you will see the fenced off area of the pond on your left - Gowling Terrace runs off Kearns. The pathway on Gowling is between #s 1623 & 1625.

JC Saddington park is at the foot of Mississauga Rd at Lake Ontario.
