Joanne and I have boated the Gulf Coast form Mobile Ala to Crystal River
Florida.
May, thru Sept.
We spend 99% of our nights at anchor , but on rare occasions will rent a
slip.
We do not sleep with AC , we do not even have AC .
I can think of only a few nights that we wished we had it.
A Labor Day weekend in Ft McRee and a night in the Mobile river.
At anchor, the boat turns her bow to the wind and pushes it down the bow
hatch, which has a screen in it.
We leave the stern facing cabin door open and it too has a screen. We get a
constant,cool , airflow thru the
cabin , all night.
That and two small fans running on the inverter, makes us go hunting for
more covers in the middle of the night.

I wouldn't recommend that you travel through Demopolis, AL in August. We
cruised up through there from Orange Beach, AL about then and spent 2+weeks
in 100 deg.+ heat (several at 104 deg+) along that part of the river. We
did miss the evening coastal breeze.
Our GenSet was malfunctioning and would only intermittently support one A/C.
It was not fun. It was an adventure but, it was not fun. Demopolis Marina
mechanics Matt and Mike repaired the GenSet. They made our short list of
greatest people we have met on this cruise.
