On my two V8 diesels I have a white residue similar that one often
sees on battery posts. I've cleaned it off but it returns over
winter. It can be found on the transmission fastening bolts as
well as the heat exchangers holding tank.
I've replaced gaskets in an attempt to stop it thinking it was
saltwater leakage but it hasn't stopped it.
All pencil sinks are replaced annually and they show some wear but still
have considerable sink material left.
Do I have a grounding issue?
Thanks, Hugh
Hugh,
The white residue sounds like either salt deposits, or corrosion products of
aluminum. Can't be corroding iron or bronze; those would be red/brown and
green. What make and model are your V-8's, and do you know the materials of
the parts that are "corroding?
