Crossing the Gulf of Mexico

Good Morning All:
I realize that most loopers cross the Gulf of Mexico from mid
October into November, but I was wondering what the crossing could
possibly be like a little later than that.
We have some things to do at home and it might be more convenient
for us to keep the boat in the Mobile area for Thanksgiving and Xmas,
then cross to Florida sometime in late January or the beginning of Feb.
Waiting for a weather window is not a problem.  Going along the
panhandle is also not a problem.
So, any experience?  Or how about those of you who live there?  Any
comments on or off list aill be appreciated.
Thanks,
Bill Russell

Just wait in Apalachicola or Carrabelle for the right weather window and you
are ok...
I have done that without a problem as they are both great ports to explore.
