I suspect that you will find at least 100% variance in the cost of this
canvas work. The material that you refer to is clear sheet vinyl. The term
"Eisenglass" refered to mica which was used on stove fronts in a time long
past--although used for sheet vinyl today. There are various qualities of
the clear sheet vinyl, as well as thicknesses from 10 to 40 mils in
thickness. "Stratoglass" is a high end vinyl that is more expensive. Also
clear lexan is also used. The optically clear vinyl is much better--and more
expensive. If using acrylic--be sure that real Sumbrella is used. If a vinyl
is used be sure it is a quality marine grade. The labor is the real cost
here.
For example: there is rolled vinyl 54" wide which costs about $10 a yard
for 20 mill and $20 a yard for 30 mill; press sheet vinyl optical quality
will cost $106 a 50 x 100" (about $35 a yard) for 30 mill and $120 (about
$40 a yard for 40 mill). I would prefer the polished sheet opitcal quality
at 40 mill--it will last much longer and will be clear. Also one should
look carefully at the design--do you want U zip up or U zip down, or no U ,
the entire pannel can be rolled up. The vinly will scratch, so scratch
resistance is a factor--I like to make terry cloth holders for sheet
vinyl--or put terry cloth in the vinly as it is rolled up to prevent
scratching.
I am sure that it will cost several thousand dollars--money well spent.
