We're poised to pose for the best finish line photos ever! Bring on the 2023 triathlon season! This weekend we kick the season into high gear with 28 event starts taking place over the weekend and early next week! This includes two club events, a sponsor 2 day event, and 18 multisport event participants! And we'll also have a great showing of support with 5 volunteers at a single event! Saturday, May 20: • SPONSOR EVENT: French Creek Racing's French Creek Triathlon (Elverson, PA): This event features sprint and Olympic distance triathlons, an Olympic aquabike, and an Olympic triathlon relay. We have 6 Gators racing and 5 volunteering. Our racing Gators are Chris Reiter in the Olympic, Mike Jurski in the sprint, and Whitney Chadwick-Lessar also in the sprint plus an Olympic relay team featuring Jennifer Gehret swimming, Teresa Byrne cycling, and Don Mack running. Our volunteers include Sarah Barkley, Kristie Bruno, Lindsay Inger, David Stone, and Megan Stone. Thanks volunteers! And go Chris, Mike, Whitney, Jennifer, Teresa, and Don! • Brooklyn Half Marathon (Brooklyn, NY): Our NYC travelers are back at it in one of, if not the largest, half marathons in the USA! Susan Flavin follows up the London Marathon and Joe DeNicola will be volunteering and running! Go Susan and Joe! • Amy's Ride/Run/Walk (Quakertown, PA): Club President Jill Basile will be participating in this 5K event that raises funds for pancreatic cancer research. Go Jill! Sunday, May 21: • CLUB/SPONSOR EVENT: Kinetic Multisports' Independence Triathlon (Quakertown, PA): This annually popular club event at Lake Nockamixon features sprint and Olympic distances along with relay and aquabike options. We have 9 Gators participating. At the Olympic distance are Chris Acosta, Ginny Angus, Carla DelFico, Don Mack, David Stone, and Chris Townsley. At the sprint distance are Sarah Barkley, Whitney Chadwick-Lessar, and Gleb Epelbaum! Go Chris A, Ginny, Carla, Don, David, Chris T, Sarah, Whitney, and Gleb! • SPONSOR EVENT: French Creek Racing's SwimFest (Elverson, PA): Returning for day 2 at the French Creek TriFest with open water swim and family friendly splash & dash events. Youth Gator Adrish Ghosh will be making his Gator event debut in the Splash & Dash event. Go Adrish! • Upper Dublin Triathlon (Fort Washington, PA): This is another great early season sprint distance event featuring a pool swim and outdoor cycling and run courses. Many Gators have completed their first triathlon here and that will again be the case this year as Seth Benjamin make his debut with his FIRST TRIATHLON! Joining him will be Lindsay Inger who is taking on the aquabike event! Go Seth and Lindsay! • Marine Corps Historic Half (Fredericksburg, VA): Holly Beauchamp heads south to take on this 13.1 mile run that happens to take place halfway between Richmond, VA and Washington, DC. Go Holly! Tuesday, May 23: • CLUB/SPONSOR EVENT: RUNegades Tuesdays in the Park 5K Ice Cream Run and Kids' Fun Run (Pottstown, PA): This event has been a club event for many years... It's a nearby fun event that features FREE post run ice cream, beer vouchers for our over 21 Gators, and a new petting zoo! It's not too late to register and you can even save a bit on the already low entry fee using code GATORS15. At last count we have 6 Gators participating including Sarah Barkley, Carla DelFico, Kasey Fazekas, Don Mack, and David Stone plus Aurora Setzler representing our youth Gators!
