cleaning carb of dink engine

Ahoy all,
I tried to bring the engine on my dink back to life today after being asleep for the winter and was unsuccessful,
The engine is a Yamaha 25 HP Four Stroke, I have determined that the fuel jets, etc. in the carb have been cruded up from fuel left in over the winter. I would like to clean the carb, but I have never done this before. I have no problem removing the carb. How should I approach this, do I need to remove the rubber parts before I put the pieces in carb cleaner?
Thanks
Paul
