From Lori Anderson, compiler: *North Bay Christmas Bird Count, December 16, 2023 - Preliminary Results* Most Abundant Birds Observed: Mallards, American Crows, Common Ravens, Blue Jays and Black-capped Chickadees were abundant; Nuthatches were frequent; a number of Common and Hooded Mergansers and Common Goldeneye were observed in the open waters; Finch species were well counted and included Purple Finch, Pine Grosbeak, Red Crossbill, Common Redpoll, Pine Siskin, American Goldfinch and Evening Grosbeak. Specialty and/or Out-of-season Birds Observed: 2 Canada Geese; 1 Common Loon; 1 Northern Goshawk; 1 Rough-legged Hawk; 1 Ring-billed Gull; 2 Barred Owls; 2 Northern Shrikes; 1 Canada Jay; 3 Brown Creepers; 1 Golden-crowned Kinglet; 18 Bohemian Waxwings; 11 American Tree Sparrows and 3 Northern Cardinals. Misses and Poorly Represented: American Black Duck 0; Wild Turkey 0; Mourning Dove 18; Hairy Woodpecker 23; Pileated Woodpecker 5; American Robin 0; Dark-eyed Junco 0; Snow Bunting 0; Common Grackle 0 Totals: 39 species and 2900 individuals Lori Anderson, Compiler
