8:00 a.m. – 15th Annual Monarch Crest Crank *– Meet at Salida Bike Company
*
The Monarch Crest Crank http://www.monarchcrestcrank.com is the historic
fundraiser for the Chaffee County Alliance Against Domestic Abuse (AADA).
In its 15th year, the AADA http://www.salidaalliance.org/ will continue
to offer advanced mountain bikers the chance to ride the famed Monarch
Crest Trail. Entry remains $75, plus pledges, for the Monarch Crest Trail
ride. On top of this bargain price, we highly encourage you to raise at
least the same amount in personal pledges and sponsorships. Your entry fee
includes the ride, guide, shuttle and of course our legendary party in
Riverside Park after the ride. The top fundraiser bringing in more than
$500 of pledges wins a stylish new cruiser bike. It’s a sweet bike too!
Come join us in the fun and help raise funds to support the important work
of the AADA. For more information, visit www.monarchcrestcrank.com or
email crestcrank@gmail.com.
Race day registration will take place at 7:30 am at the Salida Bike
Company. However, pre-registration is strongly encouraged as it will make
everyone’s morning a little easier!
8:30 a.m. – The Pastry Ride – A morning ride sponsored by South Central
Racing/Amica’s Bike Club – Meet at Absolute Bikes
The SCR regular Sunday club ride is called the “Pastry Ride.” We ride our
bikes for a while on Sunday morning and then we eat pastries. We’ll ride
around 30 miles; please bring sufficient water and dress for the weather.
The ride will finish back at the plaza of the SteamPlant for pastries,
fruit, juice and coffee.
Noon – 6:00 p.m. – Crest Crank After-Party – Riverside Park
Riverside Park is the perfect place to relax and have fun after the ride.
The Crest Crank after party is open to anyone and will be a great way to
close out Bike Fest. Join us to enjoy delicious food, drinks, live music
and fun with friends. Drinks will be provided by the Arkansas Valley
Libations Society http://arkvalleylibations.com/ and the music lineup
includes local favorites Blue Collar Poets, Full Moon Float and Lupe
Balazos (Salida’s Own Jug Band). There will also be an awesome silent
auction and bike related art by some of Salida’s best local artists. If
you want to see more of Salida, Riverside Park is right in the heart of the
downtown historic district and just a few steps away from art galleries,
taverns, restaurants, shops and more. Friends and family of riders or
anyone else who wants to hang out and support the important work of the
AADA are also encouraged to join the after party.
1 p.m. – Historic Salida Ride – Salida has the largest historic district
in the state-meet at Absolute Bikes and take a tour and learn more about
our town’s history. Sponsored by Absolute Bikes. Families welcome. Helmets
required. Donations accepted and will support the Salida Museum.
