All ethanol free gasoline is premium. At least that is true of the sources I have identified in our area. There may be exceptions elsewhere. In our northern zones, ethanol free gasoline cannot be found during the winter months as distributors have to deal with moisture issues in transport and storage.
COMMENT
In our Northern area of Wisconsin on the South shore of Lake Superior ethanol free regular gasoline is relatively common. Most marinas have it and many stations near ATV/Snowmobile trails have it. In the small town near me the autoparts store/gas station along the trail always has ethanol free regular sold for the same price year around as the ethanol laced gasoline elsewhere. Ref the water issue, it was rather easily dealt with for 60 or 80 years before the concept of gasahol came to be. It took some management by the distributors, dealers and consumers but was not too onerous for all. I bet the HEET people would like to see ethanol free gas.
In summary, the rules about ethanol in gasoline seem to vary by state and the actual practice seems to vary by area within each state.
