Cruising America's Great Loop and other inland routes
View all threadsSo far I haven't seen anyone mention this lovely mooring field on the
Chesapeake, Georgetown is on the eastern side of the bay, a lovely setting
with great restaurants and lots of walking for exercise. We stayed for
$5/night back in 2008.

I think that the Georgetown that Mary Anne is talking about is
Georgetown, MD in Cecil County and on the Sassafras River. It is
owned by the Georgetown Yacht Basin. Restaurants in the area include
Signals at Skipjack Cove Marina, the Granery at the Granery Marina
(owned by Georgetown Yacht Basin) and the Kitty Night House on the
hill overlooking the Yacht Basin. There is also the Sassafras Grill
at the Sassafras Harbor Marina (North side of the river next to the
Rt. 213 bridge) which serves breakfast, lunches and dinners. Launch
service available to the restaurants.
We are AGLCA gold flagged Loopers and Harbor Hosts on the river.

That's the place! We were the only loopers in the Georgetown mooring field
when we were there. The harbormaster was great - the scenery beautiful and
quite quaint and the food, delectable. John and Judy, sorry we missed you
during our visit - you have a beautiful home base.
