I have known steam, "white smoke" to occur when the risers get corroded
(inevitable with salt water fed into the mix of exhaust gas) at the elbow.
They are suseptible here as not only is it a mix, but impingment corrosion is
a factor here too>
This corrosion, at exhast elbow, is quite often missed and misdiagnosed; will
cause the engine to miss, and even die.
