Martin, its not the back that gets me, its the knees. 4 hours in the engine
room working while on my knees is devastating. I use firm foam pads but when
I'm done I need a small crane to help me stand up.

Kunes the tool pouch people now offer a gel pack knee pad.
The outer shell is a harder plastic so it stands up better to things like
diamond plate and kneeling on stringers with little things sticking up.
I have worn out several pairs of the normal foam type. Also those with
ballistic nylon covers that stand up better to rough surfaces.
