Is it in development or planned at all?  I'm developing an iPhone app, and uncompressed voicemail .wav files are a bit hefty to transport, even at 8k mono.  Will there be any option for say MS-GSM compressed .wavs or .mp3s?

No, that's not in our plans, yet. For a special purpose app, I'd say
it's not difficult to create custom media port to play a raw file
containing encoded frames.

Best regards,
