From Stuart Johnson:
04/17/14 - New Haven -- At noon today, a swallow-tailed kite flew by
my office window headed toward West Rock. Office at the corner of
Church and Eln, on the 18th floor. The bird appeared to be sort of
meandering west toward West Rock, but with the easterly component to
the wind, was actually out of sight, even with binoculars, fairly
soon.
From Frank Gallo:
04/17/14 - Milford, Mondo Ponds -- male Yellow-throated Warbler
Thursday morning, feeding in a vine tangle (with a Blue-gray
gnatcatcher about 10 yards to the west of the north parking lot on the
right. The lot is off Naugatuck Ave. Park and walk west (right) from
the lot. The bird was on the right in the dense vine tangles near the
road. The tangles can be seen from the road, as well. It appeared to
be a white-lored bird with a large bill.
NOTE: Many birders searched the area, it was not relocated.

From Jonah Cohen:
04/17/14 - Hartford, Cedar Hill Cemetery -- ~5:45-6:15; Red-headed
Woodpecker at the intersection of sections 2, 9 + 10. Excellent looks
at him, and he was still there when I left. A Brown Thrasher was also
in the same area, seen quite close at one point when he was noisily
foraging under the bushes (and, at one point, landing high in a tree
and letting out a loud call for 5 minutes without pausing for breath).
From Randall Sabia:
04/17/14 - Hartford, Cedar Hill Cemetery -- Red-headed Woodpecker as
indicated in the posting, spending most of its time on the ground. Per
another birder here, this bird has been very reliable at the spot for
the last three weeks.

edge of cattails and phragmites while scanning for ducks. Pair of
