I recently blew the power supply in my desk top computer. I was told that it
was probably because I had been operating it through my inverter (Heart
Freedom 20 modified sine wave). I replaced the power supply and added a UPS
battery back up. I was told that the UPS would insure a safe current to the
power supply. Only problem. the UPS does not work on the modified sine wave
of the inverter. Anyone have this problem? Any solutions?

You could put in a 12 VDC (assuming you have a 12 VDC system) power supply
bypassing the inverter and UPS altogether. Adding the UPS means you
effectively have two inverters, one feeding the other. I don't know what
the UPS might be doing to change the power configuration, it is simply a
small inverter with a transfer switch and a battery meant to provide a few
minutes to power down in the event of a power outage.
Good luck,

My computer business replaces a few power supplies a week. They break. It
has nothing to do with the inverter.
