Watering your batteries

Simplest and neatest way we've found to water our batteries.  Buy an  enema
bag, fill it with distilled water, screw in a hook over or near your  battery
bank, hang the bag on it.  Using the spring clip stopper nozzle on  the end of
the hose, fill your batteries to the proper level.  The flow  rate is just
about right for reasonably quick fills, but allowing you to monitor  the level as
you fill.  Easy to refill.  No muss, no fuss!

Rob, I  use the water filler with spring-operated tip.  It works just  fine,
considerably speeds up the process of topping off the cells, and does  NOT
touch the top of the plates.  The tip has a flange that is  slightly larger
than the diameter of the holes, to prevent the tip from  extending too far
into the cell.  Based on what others on the list  describe as their number of
batteries, such as 16 for a house bank, I  consider my housebank of 6 golf
cart types and my engine-starting bank of  two 8D's to be fairly modest.  But
even so, properly topping off 8  batteries, some in places slightly difficult
to reach, is significantly  eased by using this filler.

A genuine caution that people should  remember is that the tip of the filler
has been dipped into sulfuric acid  and should not be touched at all.
Important to remember when removing the  filler tip to put more distilled
water into the filler.

I  think we can both agree that topping off the cells is important,  yet
something that many put off for prolonged periods when it's a difficult  task
to perform.  I find the use of the filler you described  considerably eases
the chore and let's me top off my 30 filler chambers  quickly and neatly and
topping off is no longer a chore that I hate to  do.
