Absolutely beautiful. A true and proper trawler.
A question from the photos.
The prop looks to be cut off at the tips, is that true or is it the picture
(or my eyes)?

The prop blades are blunt at the tips - don't know why...  I've often
wondered if a more "proper" prop, with rounded, curved blades would be more
efficient but come back to the fact that we make 7.5 kts at 1500 rpms and
burn 2.6 or so gph.  Pretty efficient for 80,000 lbs displacement, I think.

REPLY
This discussion reminds me of something told to me by a friend a couple of
months back.
He knows someone  who has devised a prop modification that yields significant
improvement.
The modification involved adding "tiplets" or a raised lip to the outer edge of
the prop.
In addition  the outer tip of the prop has been shaped to have curve of constant
radius relative to the shaft center.
I have seen a few props with  blunt shaped tips  on a couple of displacement
fishing trawlers designed for pulling heavy loads at slow speeds.

Sounds like someone has done some testing and discovered  an improved prop blade
shape.

regards

Arild
