From the Bible to Raven: The History of Animals in Storytelling Traditions
This half-day symposium examines the diverse meanings of animals in
history. Reverend Tad Monroe from Urban Grace Church begins with an
exploration of animals in the Bible. PLU Associate Professor of English
Nothalie Op de Beeck follows with a historical account of animals in
literature. Gail Tremblay, a member of the Onondaga and Micmac nations of
upstate New York and a professor, artist, and author, concludes the program
with a look at animals in the Native-American storytelling tradition. Cost:
$12; $5 for members and students. Educator clock hours available.
