Special Note: Mark Szantyr reported what he believes to have been an
adult White-tailed Hawk.  This was along I-95 in the Old Lyme area.
Mark finished by noting that the prior occasion when this species was
seen in this part of the world was in April.  His account, posted by
Greg Hanisek, can be found here:

From Patrick Comins with Keith Muller, Jacob Musser:
03/17/14 - Madison, Hammonasset State Park -- 2 Black-headed Gulls and
4 Iceland Gulls.

From Keith Muller with Patrick Comins, Stephan Martin:
03/17/14 - Madison, Hammonasset State Park -- 2 Black-headed Gulls.
One adult has a fully developed hood and the other has a half
developed hood looking smudgy and incomplete. Of all the Bonaparte's
Gulls in the large assembled feeding flock of mixed Gulls, there was
only one that Patrick Comins, Stephan Martin and myself found that had
a half-developed hood. My suggestion would be to pan the flock of
Gulls looking for the "hoods".

From Frank Mantlik:
03/17/14 - Milford/Stratford -- SNOWY OWL at end of Milford Point, as
viewed from foot of Sniffen's Lane, Stratford (across river).
Stratford -- male EURASIAN WIGEON flying east along Russian Beach.

From Tina Green:
03/17/14 - Westport, Sherwood Island SP -- American Woodcock and 7 Fox
Sparrows in the pine grove.  Eastern Meadowlark feeding and singing in
grassy area on the left just before the main pavilion parking lot.
Southport, Southport Beach -- Eurasian Wigeon continues.
Norwalk, 14 Acre Pond -- Blue-winged Teal, Northern Shoveler (looking
really spiffy now).

From Jacob Musser:
03/17/14 - Westport, Sherwood Island -- Richardson's Cackling Goose in
a small flock feeding in the grass near the beach straight back from
the main entrance.

From Steve Broker:
03/17/14 - Woodbridge, Konold's Pond -- scope observations from the
berm at the southeast portion of the pond, view partially obscured
(3:00 PM to 3:40 PM).  Trumpeter Swan (1).  Also, female Peregrine
Falcon (color band black/green, *K/*1 banded in Middletown, CT in 2003
hatch year, in residence at West Rock since 2004) feeding on the ice
on a duck kill (probable Ring-necked Duck), and male Common Raven
observed flying south in the direction of his favorite dumpster, the
female known to be in incubation on 3 eggs.

From Paul Cianfaglione:
03/17/14 - Hartford, Riverside Park -- 1 RED-NECKED GREBE.

From Robert Dixon:
03/17/14 - Sterling yard feeders -- FOX SPARROW (2), RUSTY BLACKBIRD
(3).

From Carol Goertz:
03/17/14 - Cheshire backyard -- Rusty Blackbird, three Fox Sparrows
have been here for a week.

From Jalna Jaeger:
03/17/14 - Norwalk, 5 Allen Road -- in the field across the street, by
the brook, FOX SPARROW seen for past week in the same spot.

From Arthur Shippee:
03/17/14 - Hamden, North Lake Dr -- 6 Rusty Blackbirds (5 M & 1 F) & 2
Fox Sparrow, mid-morning.

From Jan Collins:
03/17/14 - Somers backyard -- finally got in on the Fox Sparrow frenzy
with 1 FOX SPARROW at the feeders this morn.

From Susanne Shrader:
03/16/14 - West Hartford, yard -- BROWN CREEPER.
