It is great that software and hardware continues to improve.  But choosing
the "best" is difficult for a novice who has never had a dedicated Charting
GPS, or Navigational Charting Software.

Should the Setsail Navigator- MaxSea 11.03 ($400) be near the top of my
list in terms of ease of use, appropriateness for the IntraCoastal
Waterway, and cost of software plus digital charts?

MaxSea already supports S-57 charts. In fact, if you buy MaxSea from
www.setsail.com, depending on the version you order, they include a CD with
the complete most current version of the S-57 charts free of charge.

No affiliation with MaxSea (the makers of great ECN software that just
works and doesn't crash all the time) or SetSail, just a satisfied customer.
