Director of Marketing and Communications

Position reports to the Executive Director
The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for all
areas of outreach, marketing, and media relations for The Grand Cinema and
will lead the promotion of the Grand Cinema's many films, events and
projects. This position will work with the other core staff to drive more
attendance to the cinema through creative ideas, earned press, advertising,
social media, and grass roots marketing. We are looking for candidates
already familiar with The Grand, who have more than a just passing interest
in the things we do and the films we play.
To be considered applications must include: Resume, Cover Letter, and Two
Writing Samples (plus 2 design samples encouraged but optional)
Areas of Responsibility:
- Marketing to the community to publicize the films of the Grand Cinema,
the Grand's brand and events such as the Tacoma Film Festival
- Community outreach to create partnerships with other individuals and
organizations
- Marketing and outreach through social media such as Facebook and
Twitter
- Lead advertising and promotion within the cinema, from concept to
implementation, including both written and video materials
- Generate, design and create content for the Grand's weekly email,
social media, website and mailings
- Generate local and regional earned media coverage from local
newspapers, television news, blogs, etc
- Provide assistance at all major events of the Grand plus occasional
smaller ones
- And of course, other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- The ability to generate and implement creative ideas and marketing
concepts
- The ability to easily reach out to diverse individuals and
organizations to create the kind of connections that help increase
attendance at the cinema
- Strong knowledge and experience with social media
- A strong sense of customer service
- Strong written and verbal skills
- A working knowledge of computer programs such as PowerPoint and
InDesign
- Graphic design skills preferred
- Passionate about independent film and the mission of the Grand Cinema!
Desired Experience:
- A track record of successful public relations, having successfully
pitched stories and coverage to local or regional media.
- Proven record of growing social media profiles and utilizing a variety
of digital content to affirm and expand an organization or business brand.
- Experience posting on, updating, and maintaining content on a website
or blog.
- Track record of community engagement and grassroots collaboration.
Salary for this position depends on your experience. Applications must
