One candidate (according to http://www.ladatco.com/Titi-gate.htm) is Lake

Titicaca at at 12,580 feet, covering 3500 square miles.  I don't know if most
trawlers could get there, but it could work for Boojum.  Don't know how the
roads are around

there; we might need a chopper lift!  As I recall, Tristan Jones had an

adventure planned there, but I'm not sure if he ever made it.

Tristan did make it... and wrote about it.  As I recall he contracted with a
local to haul his boat up to the lake while sticking out of the back of a
truck.  Still don't know how that boat made it in one piece.

And if that wasn't enough, after sailing the lake for a while, he shipped
his boat on over the Andes into the Amazon River system and traveled to the
mouth of the Amazon!!

We visited Bolivia and Peru in '95.  Stayed two days on Taquile Island on
Lake Titicaca.  After getting his boat up on top (the Alta Plana sp?) the
trucking wouldn't be too rough.  But, getting up and then down the other
side........!  Very gutsy.  What an adventure!

BTW, Tristan Jones passed away in Thailand a few years ago.  His books were
great reading.

They still are. I am presently halfway through "A Star to Steer Her
By" and enjoying it very much!
