Calendar no longer built on comm-central

Hello,

for a while Calendar hasn't been working in Daily since non-bootstrapped
add-ons are not supported by M-C any more. Philipp is working on a
solution for this. Calendar's Mozmill tests had to be switched off, but
Xpcshell tests had were still running and still gave some test coverage.

Today apparently all Calendar tests started failing, in fact, timing
out, pushing Xpcshell runs from the usual 10 minutes to 90 minutes which
makes sheriffing and developers' try runs very inefficient.

So I decided to switch off building of Calendar altogether. This is a
rather uncomfortable position, since Calendar is regularly hit by
bustage, and if that bustage now goes undetected, it will accumulate and
there will be a bad surprise when Calendar comes back.

People who want to lend a hand, please move to
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1457087.

Needless to say that Thunderbird 61 beta is due on the 7th of May, less
than two weeks away. We should start thinking whether it's worthwhile
shipping a beta without Calendar and with other non-bootstrapped add-ons
not working.

Jörg.

Hi Jörg,

thanks for keeping things running! I agree switching calendar off for
the moment is a good option until we investigate. All tests failing is
usually a sign of some bustage that causes a chain reaction of other
things failing.

As for the legacy add-on work, I've managed to get calendar working now,
with overlays and whatever else. I'll now need to clean up the patch,
add one more feature (toolbarpallette support), and then see if it still
works rebased on latest comm-central.
