Dear friends of the Society for Song, Yuan, and Conquest Dynasties Studies,
Please join me in welcoming another new member of the Song-Yuan Listserv,
Dr. Birgitta Augustin! Below is the self introduction she kindly shares
with us:

Curator of ancient and pre-modern Chinese art at the Museum für Asiatische
Kunst, Staatliche Museen zu Berlin. Prior to taking up the current
position, I stayed at the National Palace Museum in Taipei as a J. S. Lee
Memorial Fellow to conduct research on the collections related to the Yuan
dynasty artist Zhang Yu (1283 - 1350). Formerly the associate curator of
Asian art and acting head of the Department of the Arts of Asia and the
Islamic World at the Detroit Institute of Arts, I also worked in the Asian
Art department at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. I received my
Ph.D. from the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University, with research
interest focusing on the history of Chinese painting and calligraphy of the
Yuan dynasty.
