That's really interesting. I wonder where people have traveled from.
When I was there on Thursday afternoon, there were birders from CT, NY
and NJ. I was speculating how far people would travel during the weekend.
Has there been any info on that?

Kathy,
You asked: Where do you get your 364 number?
That number came from a Board Member of C.I.W.S.
There has been at least one of them there much of the time since the
bird was discovered and they have been trying to get as accurate a
headcount as they could.
Best,
Jim

At 10AM today there were 81 folks viewing the Flycatcher.
Its believed at least 364 people prior to today have visited Cove
Island Wildlife Sanctuary to twitch this rarity.

Hi Paula,
We visited the Sanctuary late afternoon yesterday (11/20) and were told by the
Cove Island Wildlife Sanctuary volunteer staff that on that day alone there were
over 200 people from 12 states (including Nevada, West Virginia, N. Carolina, S.
Carolina, Maine, PA., etc) who came. All saw the flycatcher, except the last
couple who arrived just after sunset and just after the bird flew to its night
roost; an amazingly cooperative bird!
And a big thank you to Mike & Wanda Moccio, Patrick Dugan, Dave ?, Patrick
Comins, and the rest of the hard-working volunteers who preserved this site,
replanted with native species, and maintain this important bird habitat. And I
might add, a little "crowd control" is definitely in order so not too destroy
the vegetation, nor flush the bird so that others may enjoy it.

All,
There also was a lovely lovely lady yesterday that was 97 years young that came up from Cape May with her
great great granddaughter.
She was one cool cat!
