Ahoy!

Over the last couple of days there have been several questions about the TWL Archive.
Since our Help Team Archive Guru, Joe Weinbrecht, is in the middle of moving I thought
that maybe I could provide some answers.

  1. Why can't I access the archive?

I just checked and the TWL Archive is up and running. The correct address for the "front
page" of the archive is: http://lists.samurai.com/pipermail/trawler-world-list/ . Please
make sure that you're using that address.

It's possible that the archive site may have been down for a short while. Samurai has been
doing some upgrades recently and that might have affected the web site. I rarely use the
archive so I really don't know for sure.

  1. Could the 'by date' archive page be configured to put the newest posts at the top of
the list rather than the bottom?

No. There are only a few archive configuration options available to us and changing the
display order isn't among them. Keep in mind that the archive isn't intended to be the
primary method of reading this or any other mailing list.

  1. How can I search the TWL Archive?

Go to this website:

http://www.irbs.com/

In the middle of the page you'll see two boxes. The box on the right
contains a drop down menu showing the various lists that I.R.B.S. archives -
Select Trawler World List

The box on the left is for your search term(s). Type in your search term(s) and hit enter:
Voila!

Their search engine supports single words, multiple words, and quoted (short) phrases.

A couple of caveats:

  1. The I.R.B.S. site is not in any way related to Trawler World or the Trawler World List.

  2. Some of the hits that you get will turn up empty messages. I have no idea why this
    happens.

I hope that covers everything.

Archivally yours

Alex
