I would think that a major consideration of world cruisers would be

parts availability. That would suggest John Deere.

I agree. My N 46 has a John Deere 6068DFM, not a Lugger. I've been told
it's the first 46 to not have a Lugger. I always thought this was an
advantage as I could get parts/assistance from any shop in the world that
works on Deere tractors.

That begs the question as to which specific  brand of engine block is most
widely used on a global scale.
John Deere, Catapillar, Kubota or some other brand not commonly found in
North America.

A lot of Lugger parts should be the same as Deere parts, or so I'd
presume, given Luggers all start off life as Deeres. Or does Lugger
change so many things that only the internal guts of the engine remain
Deere? Most of us don't carry around spare camshafts.

I haven't inventoried this as I have a Deere 6081AFM engine, but
wonder if anyone else has.
