Observation start time: 07:00:00
Observation end  time: 14:00:00
Total observation time: 7 hours

Official Counter:        Tom Bolohan

Observers:        Chris Burris, Dave Brown

Visitors:
A few visitors today. Thanks to Tom B and Chris B for doing today's count.

Weather:
Today had some real potential for a bigger flight with strong NW winds and
a broken cloud deck BUT unfortunately there was just too much moisture in
the air. Bands of rain blowing down from Lake Huron (much like snow squalls
when its colder) hit us during the morning and definitely affected the
raptor migration. Temps were much cooler behind the passing cold front
starting at 11C and getting to a high of 14C.

Raptor Observations:
Despite the less than ideal conditions some raptors did pass by the hawk
watch with a total of 142 birds. Most of these were Am Kestrels (76) and
Sharpies (38) which is typical for the start of the raptor migration at
this site. Only a couple of Osprey were tallied and just 10 Broadwings.

Non-raptor Observations:
Though the raptors were content to wait out the weather the passerines were
still moving through and Chris B compiled an eBird checklist of 45 species
for the day.  You can check out his list at the following link:

I only noted 5 Monarchs today passing along the lake shore.
