07/01/14 - herman/Wimisink Marsh from boardwalk -- AMERICAN BITTERN
fishing from tussock in open pond (water now low) around 6:08 AM.
Caught two very large fish and numerous pollywogs; 6:55 flew north
across marsh 150+/- yards; 7:08 returned and continued fishing. Also
Marsh Wrens. Rt 39 N at Rt55.

Brook -- Brown Thrasher.

06/30/14 - Madison, Hammonasset State Park -- 6 to 6:30 PM;
WHITE-FACED IBIS in Meigs marsh east of parking lot feeding in mud
around grass tussocks, while LITTLE BLUE HERON fished in marsh's open
water. Ibis (reddish face and red eyes visible in perfect early
evening light) moved deeper into marsh, scaring up dozens and dozens
of seaside dragonlet dragonflies from grasses. SALTMARSH SPARROW in
same area.
