Hello Bill,
I suspect many are like me; tending to be interested readers rather than writers. Perhaps another reason is a mailing list format may seem odd and outdated to some of the younger folk.
I’m not complaining, just an observation, it works for me and I certainly enjoy reading the reports and following the projects and adventures of you and the other list participants.
Our story is Margaret and I once owned a Logical 46 power cat which we enjoyed for nearly ten years.
More recently we had and still have a 50’ mono motorsailer but at age 78, my handling of sail problems in sloppy weather has become more of a chore.
After some soul searching we decided it was time to switch back to power and also to make plans to maximize the time spent aboard during our remaining years, with plenty of emphasis placed on comfort.
The search was on for our next boat and we tried to remain open minded, while remembering what we had learned from past experience.
After considering quite a few boats including long range cruisers and trawlers we finally decided to refurbish a Prout 61 power cat which we had found in Torrevieja, Spain.
We bought it, ran it out to Palma, loaded it on a ship to Miami, and have been repairing, remodeling and refurbishing as we make our way to Deltaville, Virginia where the major work will be accomplished.
We are now in Jacksonville, Florida, tonight’s low will be around 28F and only two of the five heat pumps will be needed to keep the boat warm and cozy. Got the comfort part right !
We both enjoy projects and this one has just enough challenge to keep us interested and busy.
Cheers to all,
Don and Margaret Miller
