Public and private academic libraries in the state of Utah
View all threadsHi Ben, great idea! If your section is anything like mine, there was cool stuff in the past, but maybe not so much recently. In my instance I tried to build new momentum for the future section chair, but there’s plenty of ideas you could pursue. Attached is my report, and a statewide survey results that was part of the report. I encourage you to use the new academic librarians mailing list (academic_librarians@lists.library.utah.govmailto:academic_librarians@lists.library.utah.gov) -when I designed it with Katie Yeo, I was hoping to get special librarians (archivists, curators, preservation, etc.) to join up too -even if they didn’t have the formal title librarian. Maybe that’s something you could initiate with Katie -who is now the academic section chair (how handy!). Hope this helps 😊 -dale

Subject: ULA Section chair question
You don't often get email from ben.harry@byu.edu. Learn why this is importanthttps://aka.ms/LearnAboutSenderIdentification
Hello Dale,
I am the new section chair for the “Special Libraries” in ULA.
While I am still wrestling with the definition of “Special Libraries”, and how to best support those that work in them . . .
I thought one approach I could take would simply be to find out what the parallel “Academic Library” section chair did last year (or longer).
If I knew what things had been successful in a different unit, maybe that would help me refine my vision of what we could try and do this year.
Any report on your activities or advice is much appreciated!
