CALL TO PIERCE COUNTY ARTISTS
Fife Public Arts Commission to Award Grants to Artists for Selected Pieces

Fife, WA - The Fife Public Arts Commission (FPAC) is currently seeking submissions of visual art for both indoor and outdoor locations within the Fife city limits.  Submissions are due to Fife City Hall by 5:00 p.m. on December 30th, 2011.

The FPAC will consider both existing works of art as well as works of art created as a response to this Call, but works of art that express a connection to City of Fife, to a specific display location, or that reflect the values of community diversity/ethnicity are preferred.  Artists selected will be provided a stipend, up to $1,000, as determined by the FPAC.  Five locations were chosen by the FPAC to kick off the new program, including:  Fife-Pierce County Public Library (inside), Fife City Hall (inside or outside), Dacca Park/Fife History Museum, Brookville Gardens Park, and Fountain Memorial Park.

The works of art selected will be on public display for a six to 12 month period, after which the FPAC may choose one to five works of art for display and inclusion in the City of Fife's permanent art collection.  In addition, City of Fife residents will be invited to select one "Community Choice" artwork that will also remain on permanent display.  Other works of art not selected as part of the permanent collection will be identified for re-sale to support the ongoing display and creation of the public art collection.

Information about each selected artist and artwork will be displayed on the City of Fife website and in printed brochures, local newspapers, televised events, and other promotional materials.

The mission of the FPAC is to identify and actively encourage the development and sustainability of the arts in the City by serving as the City's primary resource in matters of public art and culture.
