Hugh,
One of the parts of the design which interested me was the configuration of the "non bulbous" bows.
I would like your comments as well as other designer's comments of this specific design and the subject of
bulbous bows on cats--and at what size these addition of waterline are practical?
Bob Austin
Bob, they are more wavepiecers than bulbous bows. They are just shy of the forward perpendicular to protect them
around the dock.
If you look at the Gold Coast cats they have very long wavepiecers. With them, the boat has a fine half entry
angle, and it also gives a reserve of flotation forward without being so full as to make the bows slow to clear
themselves in a big sea.
Forward, this hull is fuller below the waterline than at the waterline. Look at a head on picture and you
will see this.
She should be a easy push and with the large reduction and the 5 blade,.85 DAR props should move her with ease.
Large, slow turning props do a good job of transferring the power to the water, with little slip.
Looking at the numbers, she should push easy.
